I have often been asked about what foods to avoid with psoriasis, and Ill tell you shortly. First lets try to understand why these foods are best avoided. Like many chronic diseases, psoriasis will thrive when you make the wrong dietary choices. If you are one of those psoriasis sufferers who loves to consume carbohydrate foods, especially those sugar and yeast rich foods, , then you will have a hard time overcoming your psoriasis. I considered it very important in the beginning of the Psoriasis Diet to also avoid any foods that contain or have the potential to contain molds or fungi. And that means cheap commercial white or malt vinegars, alcohols , yeast extract spreads, mushrooms, melons and soft cheeses, etc.

Better Than Refined Sugar
Though honey is high in sugar and calories, its still a better choice than refined sugar.
While refined sugar brings little to the table in terms of nutrition, honey provides antioxidants including phenolic acids and flavonoids .
Plus, one study in 48 people with type 2 diabetes showed that though honey increases blood sugar levels, it may not be to the same extent as sugar .
Studies also suggest that using honey instead of table sugar may decrease triglycerides, as well as total and bad LDL cholesterol to support your heart health .
However, while honey may be a better option than refined sugar, it should still be consumed in moderation to prevent adverse effects on your health.
Honey provides several antioxidants, such as phenolic acids and flavonoids. When used in place of sugar, it may not increase your blood sugar levels as much and may help lower cholesterol and triglycerides.
While this may not seem like much, even a few servings per day can cause the calories to stack up.
Over time, this could lead to weight gain especially if other dietary modifications are not made to account for these extra calories.

With a dramatic increase in the diagnosis of celiac disease and gluten intolerance in recent years, mainstream grocery stores, restaurant chains and bakeries are introducing more and more gluten-free products.
Following a gluten-free diet requires you to become educated on all the hidden sources of gluten, as well as educating loved ones. To avoid all gluten, you must read labels carefully . You need to avoid not only wheat but its derivatives: durum, graham, kamut, semolina and spelt. The same goes with barley derivatives: malt flavoring and malt vinegar, as well as rye, MSG and soy sauce. Remember, just because a food is labeled wheat-free doesnât mean itâs gluten-free.

When the skin on or around your genitals is raw, postpone sex.
Before sex, gently cleanse the area. Be sure to use a mild, fragrance-free cleanser. Cleansing will also help prevent psoriasis medication from rubbing onto your partner.
Men: Use a lubricated condom. Whether a man or woman has genital psoriasis, this lessens the risk of irritating the inflamed area.
After sex, gently wash the area. This helps reduce irritation. If you are using medicine, apply it.
Psoriasis is not contagious
If you have sex with someone who has psoriasis, you will not get psoriasis. Psoriasis is not contagious. Its not a sexually transmitted disease.

Avoid Breads Pastries And Other Bakery Goods Milk And Cheeses
While you dont have to strictly avoid wheat products such as breads, flat breads are OK, made with a high quality wholemeal flour, water and salt only, it is better to avoid wheat, rye, barley, spelt and even oats, all gluten containing grains, for a while until your digestion and immune system improves. If you have been suffering with chronic psoriasis for many years, only a careful elimination and challenge will let you know if wheat based breads and grain based foods are working either for or against your skin health. You will soon know with a careful elimination and challenge.
In my experience, you will improve quite rapidly if you do decide to eliminate wheat in chronic psoriasis cases. If you must eat wheat, then eat flat breads made with only with a high quality wholemeal flour, water and salt, that way you avoid any added sugar and yeast. Alternatively, use a sour dough technique to make any bread yourself. Hard cheese is usually fine, but do bear in mind that any cheese has the potential to go moldy. Especially avoid moldy cheeses such as Camembert, Brie and Blue Vein. Arent they great though with a glass of red wine and some water crackers? See, you have plenty to look forward to when you finally recover!

Aloe Vera With Coconut Oil And Shea Butter
- Mix 1 teaspoon each of alovera, coconut oil and shea butter.
- Stir well and then apply on skin, massaging gently in circles for 2 minutes.
- Leave on overnight or rinse with lukewarm water after 20 minutes.
- Repeat daily to get relief from the itching and dryness.
- Or you can mix small amount of aloe vera gel and lukewarm coconut oil. Apply on the psoriasis affected skin and scalp areas. Rinse it off after getting few minutes.
