Golden Barrel Coconut Oil works great as a moisturizer

Psoriasis is a common, reoccurring skin disease that is characterized by red, scaly patches, papules, and plaques, which usually itch. Apparently, the cause of psoriasis is still unknown but a possible cause could be when the immune system misinterprets a healthy skin cell for a pathogen and then attacks that cell by producing new cells with the intentions of destroying the pathogen. It may also be a result of an allergic reaction to foods or drugs or even stress. Whatever the cause, it can be quite unsightly, uncomfortable, and unpleasant.

Apparently, there is no known cure for the skin disease, but there are several methods used to treat the problem. One treatment that has become popular recently is the use of coconut oil. The method is to take 2 tablespoons of coconut oil internally daily whether directly on a spoon or mixed with other foods that you typically eat on a daily basis. Another more common treatment is to apply a small amount of solid coconut oil right on the affected area and rub it in 3 times per day. The solid oil will melt on the skin as it treats and soothes.

Here are some testimonies from a few of our customers that have used Golden Barrel Refined Coconut Oil to treat psoriasis:

Too much sun and tanning beds, on the other hand, arent the ideal solutions because they can raise your risk of skin cancer.

Just soak in the sun for 10 minutes, everyday.

    Psoriasis Causes And Treatments

    Baking Soda Remedy

Psoriasis occurs when the epidermal layer of the skin grows too rapidly. Essentially, this results in skin cells being replaced too frequently and cells then build up, resulting in dry skin patches, which flake. The precise reason why this occurs is not yet known, but it is thought to be linked to a problem with the bodyâs immune system.

The underlying causes of psoriasis are also not fully understood, but it is generally accepted that there is a strong genetic component. Meanwhile, lifestyle factors can also contribute to the condition developing or worsening, with examples including stress, changes in climate and excessive alcohol consumption.

Although there is no known cure for the condition, there are a number of treatment options available. The purpose behind treatment is to control the condition, limit the severity of its symptoms, reduce inflammation, itchiness and soreness, and correct immune response.

Treatment can also greatly improve self esteem and mood. Topical treatments are generally utilised for mild forms of the disease, while light therapy may be used if the condition does not respond. In the most severe cases, oral or injectable treatments may be used. In all cases, treatment can also be supported with some natural remedies, which can help to improve psoriasis symptoms.

    What Causes Scalp Psoriasis

    Pin on Psoriasis

Scalp and other forms of psoriasis occur when the immune system doesnt work properly. Skin cells grow too quickly, growing within days rather than weeks. The body cant shed these skin cells quickly enough to match the new growth. They pile up on the skins surface, causing psoriasis.

People with family members who have scalp psoriasis are more likely to have the condition themselves. Those with HIV, stress, obesity, and those who smoke are also more likely than others to have this condition.

Common triggers that set off or worsen flare-ups of scalp psoriasis include:

    • infections, including strep throat or skin infections
    • skin injuries, such as cuts, scrapes, insect bites, or severe sunburn
    • stress

    What Causes Acidic Body Ph

Unhealthy diet and improper lifestyle are the two main culprits.

Most of the foods and beverages- tea, coffee, carbonated drinks, alcohol, soda, wheat, bread, rice, sugar, refined white flour, bakery, junk food, some meats, egg- are acid forming.

Emotional stress and anxiety- these are also acid forming.

The Nitty Gritty Of Scalp Psoriasis

Its easy to think that patches of dry, itchy skin on the scalp are caused by some kind of lack of hygiene. But cleanliness has nothing to do with scalp psoriasis.

Psoriasis is actually a chronic inflammatory disorder caused when the immune system doesnt work quite right. Doctors arent sure why, but some people have an immune system that churns out too many skin cells. Since the body cant get rid of these excess cells fast enough, they pile on top of each other, forming flakey, silvery scales.

Psoriasis can pop up anywhere on the body, but when it shows up on your head, dry skin patches can appear under the hair, on the back of the neck, and behind the ears.

Its easy to confuse psoriasis with dandruff, and sometimes dermatologists arent so sure themselves. When it looks like a blend between psoriasis and dandruff, they call it sebopsoriasis a cute couples name for seborrheic dermatitis, aka dandruff, and psoriasis.

However, some clues that your scalp irritation might be psoriasis include more defined or patterned pink scale-like plaques.

Dandruff looks more like generalized greasy flaking with pink patches. Over-the-counter shampoos can typically knock out dandruff, but scalp psoriasis is a little harder to treat.
